Tanjung Aru Beach Run

Recently, I got a knack for running on the beach because it so much fun! It is a change and different from running at the park or at the long stretch of air track field that I’m used to running. My first beach run a.k.a biathlon for the year was at Teluk Senangin and the second time around was at Tanjung Aru beach, Kota Kinabalu.

The gang and myself headed out to Tanjung Aru a day after we summit and descended down from Mt. Kinabalu. I couldn’t resist myself from running on the beach despite my sore legs from descending the mountain when I saw a couple of runners jogging along the shore and the breathtakingly long sandy beach. I’ll let the pictures do all the writing here. On a side note, the little jog helped to ease the sore and aching muscles just a little bit.

Aren’t you tempted for some awesome beach runs? Imagine sea breeze blowing all over your face and hair while at the same time burning good calories along the beach. Extremely fun guys! Beach runs are the best run you can have to get away from your mundane run at the park routine. It’s a must to give beach run ago and if you happen to be down on a holiday at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah – Tanjung Aru beach is a must RUN!

Any economy accommodation near by?
Is July a jellyfish season ?

Hi Cordi! Sorry for the late reply.
I’ve been to Tanjung Aru, KK only twice and so far I don’t see many people who actually swim there. If there’s any, most probably will only be little kids. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend you to stay around the area because there’s not really much to do there besides having good seafood and just hanging out on the sea breeze. If you really want to stay in Kota Kinabalu and visit the beach, you can head down to the many hostels/hotels around Gaya Street ( it’s right in the middle of KK city) and later on take a bus trip to Jesselton Jetty, purchase tickets for your island trip around Tunku Abdul Rahman Park. There are a few islands around the park: Gaya,Mamutik,Manukan,Sapi,Sulung and the one I’ve visited was Mamutik Island. There are many packages for the island trip so don’t hesitate to ask around at the jetty counter.
